Continuing engine stripdown / investigation – cam is Burton BF63,
designated as a race/sprint/hillclimb cam and is combined with dual valve springs.
Head off, looks ok so far.
Raised crown pistons – pretty high compression?
Sump off, looking good so far.
No signs of damage or serious wear.
Next step – continue to strip block, checking for wear, deciding what needs replacing.
Distributor removed – it’s a Mallory competition item with twin points.
Seems in good condition, apart from broken carbon brush in centre of cap.
Will eventually need to decide whether to refurbish this or go straight for Megajolt solution.

Other jobs continuing:
fitting brake line across live axle
Gearbox hung on spare engine stand for cleanup and investigation later.
Not a ‘Type 9’ as initially thought. Probably 4 speed Cortina box? Quite happy if it’s in good nick.
