On the way to the IVA test, I stopped to adjust my 'Halford's Finest' centre mirror and it snapped off!
Apart from that, the 35 mile journey was uneventful and the Tiger performed faultlessly.
However, I was a little concerned that the brakes were binding slightly but hoped the journey would cause them to ease off.
The examiner was thorough but very helpful and did his best to get my brake test readings to pass.
Unfortunately there was still too much binding on one front brake and a bit of judder on the back brakes
- diagnosed as probably ovality of one or both drums - it's a fail.
I returned home with a couple of other minor issues to fix, with some very helpful advice and suggestions from the tester.
He also told me that the centre mirror didn't need to be E-marked or 'dipping',
just had to have the appropriate minimum radii where contactable by his hemisphere tester!
I managed to source a pair of 'new' (slightly rusty) brake drums to replace my 'oval' ones, sorted my front brake issues,
re-fitted my original centre mirror and addressed the other couple of issues
(a bit more u-channel to sort some edges which did not meet the necessary standards.
I then applied for a re-test, but played safe by taking the car to my local friendly MOT garage for a brake test, which it passed with flying colours.
The Beverley test centre was fairly fully booked for several weeks ahead, but I managed to get a re-test date for 4th August - fingers crossed!
