2011

2011 has seen very little time spent on the chassis build, due partly to a lack of opportunity and/or time where the build is taking place and also other family priorities.
However, I took the opportunity to take the (previously dismantled) engine home to investigate, refurbish and rebuild. Following a recommendation, I took the bits to Stanwood Engineering of Bawtry, South Yorkshire (http://www.stanwoodengineering.co.uk/) to check the condition of the block, head, crank, pistons etc. In general, things were in fairly good shape and they confirmed that a lot of serious work had previously been done - head work, competition big valves, cast raised crown pistons etc etc.
They cleaned the block, honed the bores, polished the crank journals, fitted new inlet valves and lapped in the valves as well as supplying new bearings, leaving me to do a final clean before assembly.
Block given final clean, all galleries etc. blown clear and checked, prior to painting with a nice subtle ORANGE. nicely honed bores Block painted
Engine rebuilt, cam timed in and a few ancilliaries installed.
Currently stripping and refurbishing carbs ready for trial fitting.
